Subject: Horns are hot!
I think the mix in this recording is just fine, but I'm a horn player. I had never heard of or seen Topaz until I stumbled upon this set here. I downloaded it and liked it. Then I saw them on BET Jazz and they're really growing on me. If you like Soulive, Lettuce, or the JBs, you'll dig Topaz.

Subject: Too much brass!
This is a good show but the brass is too loud in the mix. Overall it's a great show (musically) and the moments when there is no sax, the show shines. When a brass instrument plays, it makes you just want to turn the bitch off! The Johnny Cash on the intro was a nice touch on behalf of the taper/encoder. The band reminds me of Soulive. It's jazz that's hot, soulful and funky. This is my first Topaz show and since I'm so impressed with the music, I'm hopeful that there's a better Topaz show out there in the Internet Archive.

Subject: sick matrix!
This was my first time seeing Topaz.. and what an introduction.. they played a tight set..

and the recording brings it all back.. you are not going to find a better sounding topaz show anywhere... sick sick sick.. a must download for anyone, be it someone hearing topaz for the first time or a longtime fan.
